Amkor Technology Cases

Mr. Caine represented Amkor Technology in a series of actions in which the plaintiffs alleged that Amkor had used a supplier's defective plastic encapsulant to package semiconductor chips. These chips were then sold downstream for use in products such as hard disk drives. The failure mechanism and responsibility for the failures were hotly contested by the parties' experts. Mr. Caine handled numerous aspects of fact and expert discovery, took and defended depositions, developed case theories, and served as the primary attorney responsible for working with Amkor's technical experts. He also was a member of the trial team. The first of these actions went to trial, and the jury returned a verdict of no liability in favor or Amkor. The remaining cases settled.
