Patent Litigation Matters
SanDisk Corporation adv. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., E.D. Tex. 9:02-CV-58 (2002).
Jim Otteson represented defendant SanDisk Corporation in action in which Samsung alleged that SanDisk's flash memory products infringed four Samsung patents. After the court set the case for trial in October 2002 on a complaint that was originally filed in March 2002, Mr. Otteson drafted a successful motion to transfer the case to the Northern District of California; it was one of the first successful motions that resulted in the transfer of a patent case out of the Eastern District of Texas. Shortly after the transfer order, the case settled on terms that were very favorable to SanDisk.
